Cleaning hardwood floors naturally

There are so many benefits that come from investing in hardwood flooring, from the aesthetic appeal to the fact that they’re easy to clean as long as you do it right and take care of them, it’s just an overall great investment to make. With that being said, we’ve compiled a list of cleaning tips that we’ve collected over the years that keep the Holy Grail of flooring clean and in good shape for years to come.

First let’s look at a few benefits of investing in hardwood flooring:

Instead of having to replace the entire floor like you have to do with carpeting, wooden flooring can be repaired due to the fact that it’s laid in a plank style. Even if there are dents or scratches, there are easy fixes for those that you can do yourself.
It lasts longer. Honestly, hardwood flooring lasts for such a long time as long as you take care of it which isn’t even that much of a burden – as long as you’re not dumping buckets of water on it daily, you should be set.
Its way more appealing to look at. When you invest in hardwood flooring, especially if it’s bamboo flooring, it just takes the interior of your and adds aesthetic points.

Now, if you have hardwood flooring, let’s get into the tips for keeping those wooden floors clean and in good shape so you don’t have to invest in any repairs or spend time doing quick fixes.

3 Tips for Keeping Hardwood Floors Clean

DO YOUR BEST TO VACUUM DAILY
The more dust and dirt you let pile up on your wooden floors, the higher the risk for it becoming scratched or dented. If you have children or pets especially, a lot of dirt will get tracked into the house. If you don’t have time every day to vacuum, take a dust mop and run it over the floors just to make sure no build up will form in certain areas.

CLEAN UP SPILLS AND LIQUID IMMEDIATELY
This tip applies during the winter, especially if you live in areas that get a lot of rain during this season or snow because all that liquid will rest on your wooden flooring and begin to warp it. Plus, the longer you let liquid sit on the wood, it’ll damage the finish and you’ll start to see discoloration.

WAX YOUR WOODEN FLOORS ONCE A YEAR
It’s recommended that you never mop your wooden floors because too much water will damage the finish making the wood either warp or crack. with that being said, keep your wooden floors dust free, but once a year (aim for Spring cleaning time) you want to invest in a wood floor wax to keep it looking freshly finished.
