Talavera and Spanish Pavers-what are they?

Talavera tile is inspired by a type of pottery that goes back as far as the 16th century when Spain brought it to Mexico. The name Talavera comes from the Spanish town of Talavera de la Reina, which is known for its intricate pottery and tile designs.
They are ceramic handcrafted ceramic tiles that have an almost unlimited number of applications, from backsplashes to fireplace surrounds and stair risers and patio benches. There are different grades and, while they can also be used on floors, it’s critical to tell your retailer if you plan to use Talavera on that or any other high traffic area.

A paver is about an inch thicker than a tile and often used in exterior home design, such as walkways, courtyards, patios. You can also use them on indoor floors, but be sure to discuss this with your retailer. Pavers come in various styles, including Spanish Pavers, as well as Mediterranean and Tuscan.

Porcelain tile vs ceramic

Porcelain is a type of ceramic, but the composition also includes sand and glass with clay. It is fired at higher temperatures, resulting in a heavier material that's best used in heavily trafficked floors, such as in the kitchen or bath. This is a large format, and it, too, stands up to weather. It is waterproof whether or not it's glazed and can be used also on walls, tub and shower surround, patio and deck floors and poolside. It comes in many colors and patterns, and can also be made to look like anything from marble, granite, and other stones to leather and wood.
