What is an SPC floor?
SPC stands for “stone plastic composite,” a technologically advanced core that’s composed of limestone and stabilizers. The style is the same as luxury vinyl flooring, You will still get all the features, but an SPC floor is sturdier, more stable and, yet, still comfortable to walk and stand on. An SPC vinyl floor has four layers, including an ultra-strong top clear plastic wear layer that protects against scratches and scuffs.
Now comes the image layer which, thanks to modern photography, produces a clear and vibrant image with texturizing and finishing features. Next is the core and, under that, is a cushion that may or may not be attached (speak to your waterproof flooring retailer in detail about this to reduce sound and act as a moisture barrier. A good way to remember it is this: All SPC floors have the luxury vinyl style, but not all luxury vinyl floors are SPC.
